Hassan Saaid and Aishath Aini Mohamed emerged as the standout athletes, clinching the Best Athletes Award at the National Athletics Championships.

Saaid, excelling in sprint events, claimed the title of Best Male Athlete by securing first place in both the 100m and 200m sprints. His contribution extended to the MNDF Club's victory in the men's 4x100m event.

In a competition predominantly focused on track events, Aini faced tough competition among field athletes. Having broken a national record in throwing, Aini became the first female athlete since 2007 to be honored with the Best Athlete Award in a national field athletics event. In 2016, Hassan Shamoon had earned this distinction in the male category. In that year, Aiminath Muneera (Baba) of JJ Sports won gold medals in all three throwing events and won the Best Athlete Award.

Aini's success is seen as a positive sign for the growth of field athletics in the country, according to Abdullah Ibrahim (Abulho), Aini's coach in track and field. He remarked, "It was only recently that we started giving priority to field events in the country. Aini's success shows that field athletics is also improving."

In the team events, Saaid Sports disrupted MNDF Club's nearly two-decade-long dominance by clinching the men's first team award with a total score of 171. The MNDF club secured the second position with 168.5 points, while Naseer Sports, led by Naseer Ismail, claimed the third spot with a score of 103.5. Track and Field was recognized as the Best Women's Team.
