Two more COVID-19 deaths, death toll reaches 96

Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Sunday announced two more COVID-19 related deaths in Maldives, increasing the death toll to 96.

As per the agency, an 81-year-old Maldivian male passed away at 0238hrs and a 30 year old Maldivian woman that passed away at 0430hrs. They were both admitted in Hulhumale' Medical Facility.

The 30-year-old woman was the youngest person to have passed away in Maldives, while being positive for COVID-19.

As the number of COVID cases increase, so have the number of deaths. HPA, along with the government is working to implement harsher restrictive measures to limit movement in an attempt to control the spread of COVID.

This month alone, 22 people have passed away due to COVID-19 in Maldives.

So far 43,782 people have tested positive for COVID in Maldives. There are 15,666 active cases.
