A boat from Kulhudhufushi in Haa Dhaalu atoll, laden with heavy cargo capsized on Saturday.
Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said the four Maldivian men onboard were not hurt or injured in the incident.
The boat called "Haisham" was enroute to Goidhoo in Shaviyani atoll from Velidhoo in Noonu atoll when it capsized near Bodumandhoo in Shaviyani atoll.
When MNDF received the report of this incident at around 11:00 a.m., a sea ambulance and coast guard were dispatched to the scene immediately.
The boat, approximately 70 feet in length, was brought near the Bodumandhoo harbour when it started to sink.
The coast guard also picked up the cooking gas cylinders that started to float away when the vessel began to sink.
Photos show a large part of the boat is now under water.
