HPA advised Eid holiday travellers to exercise caution to prevent catching communicable diseases such as flu, dengue, chikungunya, and diarrhoea.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) today cautioned locals travelling for the upcoming Eid holidays to be wary of the increasing number of communicable diseases such as dengue and chikungunya.
In its statement the agency detailed that the number of dengue, chikungunya, diarrhoea, influenza and other flu cases are increasing during this period.
As such, HPA advised everyone to take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of such diseases.
- Consult a doctor if flu persists for a long period of time
- Wear masks if any flu symptoms are exhibited
- Wash hands frequently with soap or sanitise well
- cook food thoroughly and wash fruits and vegetables well before consumption
- Prevent insects and bugs from being able to get on food
- Use fresh food as much as possible
- Use a waste bin with a lid and dispose of waste as frequently as possible.
- Keep children home from school if any diarrhoea symptoms are exhibited.
