MWSC, MTCC switch heads

The Privatization and Corporatization board on Tuesday appointed Ali Azim, Managing Director of Male' Water and Sewerage Company Pvt Ltd (MWSC), to the same position at Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), while MTCC's Managing Director, Hassan Shah, was appointed to the top position at MWSC, reported local news media Mihaaru.

Speaking to Mihaaru, President of the Privatization and Corporatization Board Hassan Waheed stated that the decision to switch the heads of the state-owned companies was a measure taken to increase their overall efficiency.

Azim was appointed as MWSC's Managing Director on November 29, 2018 while Shah was designated as MTCC's head on December 12, 2018.

Both individuals are on the council of Jumhooree Party, a member of the ruling coalition.

Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) is the only company that the government has yet to appoint a managing director. MACL is the largest state-owned company in terms of size and revenue.
