Maldivian hip-hop star Sofwan Ali, popularly known by his stage name 'Soppe', is scheduled to release his self-titled debut album to coincide with the day of Eid al-Fitr.

In collaboration with local streaming service 'Lavafoshi', Sofwan will release a total of 11 brand new songs under this album 'Soppe'.

The album will feature music productions from the producer for Maldivian Idol Season 2, 'Mistee', and upcoming producer 'ShaqzD'.

Entirely written by Sofwan himself, the album features Andhala Haleem (Anya), as the only additional singer in the album.

The album was recorded in various studios in capital city Male', and in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

It is currently in the final stages of audio mastering and awaiting release.

The rapper initially announced the album eight years ago in 2011 and has since made himself a pivotal name in the Maldivian hip-hop scene.

Having performed with famous musicians such as Fathimath Mishya Athif, Mohamed Mira Majid and legendary American singer Akon, the songwriter has amassed a relatively large following since his relatively recent venture into the music industry.

He first entered the scene as a member of the first Maldivian hip-hop group 'Black Prison 8' in 2005.

After multiple years together, Sofwan went on to explore a career as a solo artist, following the disbandment of the hip-hop group in 2011.
