Vehicles that are parked outside of vehicle parking zones on the mini bus route will be towed, Maldives Police Service cautions.

This is to facilitate a less congested route for the mini bus service which commenced yesterday.

A tweet from Maldives Police Services said, "Vehicles that are parked illegally will be subject to violation stickers and towed if necessary".

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) mini bus service has brought changes to existing vehicle parking regulations. With this change, the most traffic prone roads, Majeedhee Magu and Ameenee Magu will not be facilitated for parking. Changes have also been made for Orchid Magu and Fandiyaaru Magu.

The Malé City Council has been urged by the Maldives Police Service to facilitate more parking zones within the capital. Most of the parking zones developed are already in use.

Parking infractions were found around bus stops on the very first day of the minibus service.
