All projects and staff of Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC) have been transferred to operate under the Public Works Services of the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure.
Mihaaru understands that, since last month, all the departments of MRDC except the business development department have been functioning under the housing ministry’s Public Works Services.
The signboard of MRDC’s site in capital Male has also been changed after the operations were taken over by the Public Works Service department.
MRDC’s Board of Directors had previously discussed closing the company, which had undertaken projects ranging from road development, sewerage system installment to developing football grounds in different parts of the country.
MRDC has a tarnished image of being inflicted with many corruptions issues, with a record number of managing directors appointed in its short history. It has had five different managing directors so far.
