MSS signed as a carrier partner, with the company's Managing Director Ahmed Shareef having signed the agreement.

After signing the MoU, MPL CEO Mohamed Wajeeh said that the service would positively impact the Maldives' economy.

He also said the agreement binds all three companies to collaborate and cooperate in provision of this service.

"MPL's revenue will increase, the services will be further expanded. In addition to this, this service will bring development to the Maldives' economy," he said.

Bilal Okur, Turkish Airlines' Regional Cargo Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives, said that the airline's target is to develop Maldives into a sea to air transshipment hub.

"Now, we are mainly using Sri Lanka. However, even now, Sri Lanka is unable to cater to our demands. That is why we want to use Maldives for this service as well," Bilal said.

This service will see goods being transported through sea and air travels. This will cater to the needs of the industries and businesses in the region, strengthening and expediting the carrying of goods from one place to another.
