A case has been filed with Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), alleging corruption was involved in importing the material required to renew the oil tankers used by FENAKA Corporation.

ACC has started to investigate and ordered to halt all transactions related to this case.

FENAKA said on Thursday night that, as per ACC’s orders, they have stopped the import of the material required to renew the oil tankers used in some of the islands.

The company has been accused of rampant corruption in the past as well. Several cases pertaining to FENAKA, which also has several debts, have been filed with the ACC previously.

Speaking at a parliament debate, Henveiru West MP Hassan Latheef said in addition to FENAKA refusing to pay various companies on tasks they have undertaken for the company, there are 31 cases of corruption involving about MVR 71.9 million pertaining to FENAKA filed with ACC.

It was previously made public in April of this year that unpaid dues by FENAKA to various companies amount to MVR 2.8 billion. This value has increased since then. Private companies and organisations have been repeatedly asking the company to pay their dues for a long period now.
