Capital Male' City has been experiencing heavy rain since this morning, resulting in the streets becoming heavily flooded. MNDF are working to drain flood water from Male' streets since this afternoon.
In a post shared on social media X, MNDF stated that in response efforts by their Fire and Rescue Services, as of now 3,284,600 litres of water has been drained through the use of pumps in 10 areas of Male'.
Over 200 residences in Male' have reported storm related flooding and damage to the National Disaster Management Authority. MNDF said that they have been providing assistance to these households, and have been placing sand bags there to prevent further flooding.
Efforts are also ongoing to relocate residents from houses that faced severe damage.
In addition to Male', several islands across the country also report flooding in the continued heavy rains. MNDF personnel are also working on flood water draining in these islands.
Meanwhile, MET Office has predicted similar stormy weather for the five days ahead as well.
