Saudi King has personally intervened to allocate the originally agreed 2,000 Hajj quota to the Maldives this year, Mihaaru understands.
Mihaaru has found that an administrative oversight by the Maldives Islamic ministry lead to the Saudi counterparts allocating only 1,000 slots to the island nation.
The Islamic ministry had reportedly failed to flag the mistake in the agreement sent over by its Saudi counterparts.
Following the mistake, half of the Maldivian pilgrims faced the threat of missing out on Hajj pilgrimage this year.
However, reliable sources within the Maldives government said president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom had wrote to Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the issue has now been resolved.
Maldives Hajj pilgrims are scheduled to depart on August 15.
