The opposition coalition parties, the Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) and the People's National Congress (PNC), have complained to the management of the state broadcaster Public Service Media (PSM) that they do not give the Maldives' opposition enough media opportunities.

On Tuesday, the PPM-PNC coalition leaders met with the PSM Managing Director Ali Khalid and the senior management of the state media.

Heena Walid, the spokesperson for the opposition coalition, said that the leadership is aware that PSM and its subsidiary channels do not provide the opposition with equal access.

Heena claimed that President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih's campaign activities for the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s upcoming primary election is also being promoted by PSM, which insinuates misuse of state resources to promote a certain political party.

The PPM-PNC coalition exhorted PSM to ask for the opposition's comment in news about the administration's policies and to include some of the opposition's narratives in their news. The opposition also urged PSM to do its proper due diligence as the state-run broadcaster.

PSM has been criticised in the past for failing to offer the opposition any opportunities. The opposition at the time was MDP.
