Jabir abusive towards crew, Maldivian to take action

Due to Jabir's verbal harassment of the Maldivian seaplane crew, Island Aviation has filed a complaint to the police while Maldivian is conducting an investigation to determine their course of action on the matter.

Island Aviation Services has filed a complaint with the police against Kaashidhoo Constituency Parliament Member, Abdulla Jabir for verbal abuse of the seaplane crew of Maldivian Airlines.

The footage circulating on social media reveals the MP shouting profanities and using obscene language to address the crew.

This footage that is approximately 3 minutes captured Jabir's relentless verbal attacks directed at the crew while the targeted crew member remained silent during the entire video.

The video also shows Jabir threatening to approach and spit on a crew member.

Videos of Jabir exhibiting vulgar speech and actions have been shared several times on social media even prior to this most recent incident.

Jabir’s use of profane language in an argument with some members of the public during the MDP primary campaign for the parliamentary election had resulted in his expulsion from the party with MDP seizing the ticket he had secured.

Island aviation stated that while the complaint of Jabir’s verbal abuse targeted towards their staff has been submitted to the police, Maldivian will also determine measures to be taken against him after an investigation.

Managing Director of Maldivian, Ibrahim Iyas, expressed his profound concerns regarding yesterday’s incident and that the safety of passengers and crew must be highly prioritized.

He said that Island Aviation also has policies and procedures detailing the proceedings for conduct following such incidents and that the investigation is underway.
