Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir has disrupted parliament's Tuesday sitting, on December 12, protesting against current Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed.

Minister Saeed, who is also the former Maavashu MP, was sitting at a seat designated for the minister inside the parliament chambers when Jabir began to shout at him.

The minister was summoned to the sitting to answer questions by the parliamentarians.

Jabir stood next to the desk where Saeed was sat, and continued to shout at the minister in protest.

The MP had impeded on parliament chair's attempts to proceed with questioning the minister as well.

Despite repeated attempts by Parliament Speaker Mohamed Aslam to advise the MP, Jabir continued to shout loudly, rendering the minister's statements inaudible for the rest of the members.

After the MP was granted opportunity to question the minister, he alleged Minister Saeed of being part of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) scandal during former President Abdulla Yameen's presidency.

The parliament chair however, did not approve Jabir's allegations as a viable question, and called out the MP's name once he began to shout again.

After his name was called out, Jabir sat on the chamber's floor and continued to shout.

However, Speaker Aslam decided to proceed, requesting other members to treat it as if MP Jabir was absent during Monday's sitting.

The MP had eventually left the chambers on his own.
