President Dr Mohamed Muizzu is scheduled to deliver his first presidential address on February 5, at the first meeting of 2024 of the 20th parliament.
Parliament Secretariat has announced that it has commenced preparations for this sitting, arranged to be held at 9am on February 5, Monday.
The Constitution stipulates that at the beginning of the first session of each year at the first sitting of the parliament, the President shall address the People’s Majlis on the state of the country, and present proposals for improving the state of the country.
The current parliament term is due to end this year, and Elections Commission has announced that parliamentary elections will be held on March 17.
