Immigration detained 14 expatriates working illegally near the Heenaamaage parking area in the Galolhu ward in Malé.

The operation, conducted on Saturday morning, was conducted following a report received through the Immigration Watch portal, a platform designed to report cases related to expatriates.

These 14 individuals were found without valid work permits and have been taken into Immigration custody.

Following a report by Malé City Council, Immigration searched an accommodation block resided in by expatriates in Maafannu ward yesterday, detaining eight undocumented expatriates.

One of the key priorities of the current administration is addressing the issue of undocumented expatriates working in the Maldives. To tackle this problem, a special operation was launched, resulting in the detention and deportation of numerous individuals.

According to Immigration, over 2,000 expatriates have been deported in the past seven months as part of the ongoing efforts to address the issue of undocumented workers in the Maldives. Immigration has stated that this operation will continue until the problem is fully resolved.
