The academic year has officially ended, and schools across the Maldives have begun their annual school holidays today.

This year, 96,000 students attended school from preschool to grade 12. Among them, 40,300 were girls and 42,700 were boys. The education sector was supported by 12,662 teachers in government schools, including 10,729 Maldivian teachers and 1,933 foreign teachers.
According to the academic calendar released by the Ministry of Education, the mid-term holidays for the first term of the new academic year will begin on July 24, with the second term starting on August 10. The academic year will conclude on December 28.
While the new academic year's annual holiday runs from December 28 to January 27, the ministry previously announced that starting 2026, the academic holiday will fall in December.
