The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has erected a temporary mosque in Phase 2 of Hulhumale.
The mosque- Masjid Shakireen was inaugurated yesterday in the vicinity of the park near Hiyaa flats, in time for the month of Ramadan.
HDC said that the mosque was opened to alleviate difficulties experienced by the elderly and individuals with disabilities residing in the Hiyaa flat area, who previously had to travel long distances to pray in congregation.
According to HDC, the mosque, with a capacity of approximately 100 persons, will be accessible to both men and women.
The corporation highlighted its ongoing commitment to offer a variety of services for the convenience of those living in Hulhumale'.
Masjid Hassan Adam, located in Nirolhu Magu in Hulhumale' Phase 2, was officially inaugurated yesterday for Friday prayers, to accommodate the growing population in the area.
The two-storey mosque bult by Muni Homecare can accommodate 1500 persons to pray in congregation inside the building. During yesterday's Friday prayers, the mosque itself, as well as it's outdoor premises were filled to capacity.
