The Elections Commission (EC) has switched the process of removing names from political party registrations to an online format.
The Commission announced today that the change will be in effect as of tomorrow and that requests to unregister from political party registrations must be directed to the EC's portal my.elections.gov.mv.
This is part of the commissions recent efforts towards making the process easier for the public.
Late last month, the Commission, in its ninth amendment to the political party regulations, mandated that parties must remove individuals from their political party registration within 14 days of a request being submitted.
If the party fails to do so, the individual has a right to file a complaint with the EC and it will be arranged for them, the regulation further stated.
