Maldives Immigration has stated that it will take strict action against individuals violating their visas.
Maldives Immigration detained an individual yesterday for entering the country on a tourist visa but engaging in business activities in Male' and sleeping in public spaces.
The woman, identified as 33-year-old Quiping Feng, a Chinese national who is unable to speak or hear, was taken into custody following complaints that she was conducting business and sleeping in various locations.
It was reported that last weekend, Feng entered several cafes and restaurants in Male' and attempted to sell keychains.
Maldives Immigration has stated that it will take strict action against individuals violating their visas.
The authority has also urged the public to report any such incidents. As part of a stringent operation, Immigration has deported approximately 5,000 foreigners, including those without valid visas.
