The Democrats parliamentary group has requested the parliament’s administration that they do not schedule any sessions to proceed with the no-confidence motion filed against Speaker Mohamed Nasheed until the case filed by Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) with the Supreme Court regarding this matter is settled.
The Democrats’ Parliamentary Group’s Leader, MP for Central Henveiru constituency Ali Azim said in a letter addressed to the parliament’s Secretary General that it is against parliamentary norms and democratic principles to go ahead with the resolution until the Supreme Court makes a ruling on the case after debating the matter.
