Maziya Sports & RC has become the sole football club to pass the AFC Club Licensing Regulations and acquire a license for the football season announced by the Football Association of Maldives (FAM), reports Mihaaru News.

The football season is slated to begin on June 15.

The requirements determined by FAM in 2019 stipulates that the main Maldivian football league can only be partaken by clubs that has completed the club license. The association had disallowed clubs with incomplete club licenses from participating in the competition.

Ten teams are set to participate in the upcoming football season, however, Maziya remains the only club with a complete club license.

Meanwhile, no footballs teams have begun practices nor training for the competition despite the short window left before the beginning of the season. Maziya, who typically begins preparations for the competition in advance has also not begun pre season training for the upcoming competition.

A coach for the team also remains unarranged. The team's former coach, Milomir Seslija, native to Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, who had joined the team halfway through the last season had resigned from his post after the season concluded.

While some other teams have not even formed squads, Club Green Streets is currently faced with a ban on player transfers. Meanwhile, Club Valencia is currently in suspension following the FAM's leadership's unsuccessful attempts at assuming control over the club, after raising concerns on the procedure for electing the club's Executive Committee.

Victory Sports Club, who were recently repromoted to the first division also remains inactive. Additionally, Club Eagles, who had played on par with Maziya last season is presently faced with financial difficulties.
