The Spokesperson at the President's Office, Mohamed Miuvan, said on Thursday that even though people with different political views exist in the government, it will continue to fulfil the essential needs of the public as required.

At the weekly media briefing, a reporter asked whether the current circumstances would hamper the execution of developmental projects since senior government officials who did not support President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in the Maldives Democratic Party (MDP)'s primary election still remained in their positions.

Some of the top executives of state-owned companies campaigned for Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed in the primary election. Even though President Solih won the primary, they have still not expressed their support for the MDP's presidential candidate.

In response, Miuvan said that all state-owned enterprises will continue to offer their services in the same way they always have, and that nothing will change.

"I assure you, even if there is a political difference, the public will not be inconvenienced in terms of services provided. Every citizen will receive the services they need, we'll make sure of that," the spokesperson said.

However, when a reporter asked whether the President trusted these individuals that did not support him and if there were any plans to remove them from their positions, Miuvan said he had no response.

Among the senior government officials who Nasheed in MDP's presidential primary are the State Trading Organisation (STO)'s Managing Director Hussain Amr and AgroNet's Managing Director Haroon Rasheed.
