With Christmas approaching, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has issued a reminder that it is illegal to celebrate festivals of other religions in the Maldives.

With Christmas approaching, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has issued a reminder that it is illegal to celebrate festivals of other religions in the Maldives.

A circular sent to island councils, signed by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, urges those who employ foreigners, or conduct tourist activities, to act in accordance with the laws and regulations, and to instruct the foreigners to do so as well.
