Indian news media reports that the death toll from this landslide, which sent mud, water and boulders through tea and cardamom estates has now crossed 200.

While flash floods have occurred in several districts in South India due to relentless rain, the area where the landslide occurred is also closed off due to rain, posing challenges to rescue operations according to officials.
