President of Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed concludes their official visit to the United Kingdom. The presidential couple returned home on Thursday, September 22.

President Solih and First Lady traveled to London to attend the state funeral for the late Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Commonwealth of Nations, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The late Queen Elizabeth II passed away on Thursday last week, September 8, 2022 at the age of 96.

Following her demise, Maldives observed three days of mourning with the country's national flag flown at half-mast.

Before the funeral, President Solih and the First Lady paid their last respects to the late Queen as her coffin was laid in state at the Westminster Hall in the Palace of Westminster, London.

The Maldivian presidential couple also wrote messages in the Book of Condolences at Lancaster House, London. The late Queen Elizabeth II received the highest Maldivian honor, the Grand Order of the Distinguished Rule of Ghaazee.
