Speaking in today's debate in parliament on authorizing the government to form urban centers, Gasim said that there is no call to create strife and discord during the current situation.
He maintains that MPs, too, bear some responsibility for the current economic difficulties being faced by the country. He said it is wrong to believe otherwise, and emphasized that the MPs have failed to fulfill some responsibilities.
"So it is not only those who have come to power that must be seen to be at fault. There is no option besides cooperatively supporting today's President's efforts with sincerity and loyalty," Gasim asserted.
Gasim warned that activing otherwise would prove detrimental to the country, and said that all should work in the same spirit in order to save the country from further economic downfall.
"The time is approaching now for us to tighten our belts and hold our breath for two years, or a year and a half. If we don't follow this path, we won't even be able to send funds to the student who has gone [abroad] to study," he said.
"When we stoop to pointing fingers at each other and creating hate, who is left to carry this torch? Us. It is us who are leading ourselves into bad times."
Although Gasim has appealed to MPs to support the President today, last week he strongly criticized some of the decisions of the government and bills proposed by the government in both the parliament chambers and committee meetings.
