Maldives wins over Tajikistan, maintains race for top spot

Maldives won against Tajikistan in the first round of the Asian Central Zone Women's Volleyball Challenge Cup, securing a 4-1 set victory at the tournament held at Social Center last night.

Maldives dominated the first two sets, winning 25-18 and 25-12, while Tajikistan took the third set with a 25-21 score. The Maldives secured the fourth set with a 25-16 victory, claiming a 3-1 win over Tajikistan.

The first round of the tournament where four teams are competing, is played in a round-robin format, where each team competes against the others an equal number of times, accumulating points with each win.

Maldives' next match is against Kyrgyzstan, currently leading the standings. Kyrgyzstan defeated Afghanistan in straight sets last night, winning 25-14, 25-12, and 25-14, and have yet to lose a set in the tournament.

The group stage concludes on Monday, with semi-finals beginning Tuesday. The top-ranked team will face the fourth-placed team in the first semi-final, while the second and third-ranked teams will compete in the second. The bronze medal match and final are scheduled for Wednesday.
