India's External Affairs Ministry says that discussions are underway regarding unhalted operation solutions for Dornier aircrafts and helicopters after the removal of the Indian Military currently in Maldives.

This statement was disclosed by the ministry following the “High level committee” meeting, created per the agreement between President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi during their meeting in Dubai on the sidelines of COP summit.

The statement reveals that the two countries discussed solutions for the uninterrupted operations of the helicopters and Dornier aircrafts that are utilized for humanitarian aid and medical emergencies.

However, the statement disclosed by the Foreign Ministry following the meeting made no mentions of these discussions.

After the lengthy meeting conducted between senior representatives of both countries, the government stated that both countries have agreed to fast track the withdrawal of Indian Military personnel stationed in the Maldives.

Public Policy Secretary of the President’s Office, Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim stated yesterday that if any military personnel are involved in flying the aircrafts, they must evacuate the country. However, any concerned civil workers can be allowed to remain.

Discussions are underway on this matter, according to Nazim, and he clarified that it is too soon to say if any agreements have been made regarding this. He also stated that state will handle it, should difficulties arise in transporting patients via Indian Aircrafts.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizz has previously confirmed the introduction of Air Ambulance services to Maldives this March, revealing that necessary preparations are already underway.

India has disclosed its intention to cooperate with the withdrawal of Indian Military, and the President has proposed the evacuation of all Indian Military personnel currently in Maldives to be concluded before 15 March this year.

After the discussions between President Dr. Muizz and Indian Prime Minister Modi at the Cop Summit last November in Dubai, the president stated that India has agreed to cooperate on the removal of their soldiers from the Maldives. Hence, he has been persevering in his efforts to implement it.

After this meeting, Indian newspapers also reported that the two country leaders discussed a solution for operating helicopters and Dornier aircrafts following the eviction of the Indian Military.

Reporting on behalf of their officials, they also said at the time that Maldives understands the importance of these aircrafts.

The withdrawal of Indian Military from Maldives was a pledge to be honored within the first 100 days of President Dr Muizzu’s presidential term.
