Thirteen individuals have been arrested in a joint counter-terrorism operation conducted by Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) and Maldives Police Service yesterday.
Police reported that during the operation, nine suspects were detained from Addu city, two from Male' city, and two from Kaafu Atoll Guraidhoo. All individuals brought under custody were local men.
Police stated that the operation has not yet been completed.
Police have previously said that there are more than 1,000 extremists in Maldives. Various equipment, documents and explosives related to terrorist groups were also recovered during the operation.
