Following a deadly fire at Male' city Senrose garage in Maafannu on Thursday, November 10, authorities have confirmed total number of deaths at 10 so far.
MNDF earlier in a press interview confirmed that the recovered bodies included nine Indians, and one Bangladeshi national.
Authorities are currently investigating the scene of incidence, and attempting to scan the area for possible further casualties.
Meanwhile, local authorities noted the building which housed expatriate workers had a large number of gas cylinders used for cooking. The building has a total of 28 room blocks, small in space. Each of these room housed at least one gas cylinder.
Officers of both Maldives Police Service and Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) are currently active on site with an emergency response team. Bodies carried out from the location have already been transferred to the mortuary.
MNDF further affirmed they are currently attempting to relocate the people living in the area, to safer or temporary housing.
