Search for an elderly Maldivian man in Sri Lanka has started after he was reported missing.
Ibrahim Ali, 62, is in Sri Lanka for medical treatment for kidney issues. Search for him started after his whereabouts became unknown on Tuesday, May 3.
Director of Communications at Foreign Ministry, Miuwan Mohamed said the Foreign Ministry was providing consular assistance to Ibrahim's family. This case has been submitted to the Sri Lankan police as well.
A social media post stated that Ibrahim has been missing since he went to a mosque in Dehiwala, Colombo, on Eid al-Fitr, for Eid prayers. They have requested to call +94 (77) 499 2383 or to inform Maldives High Commission in Sri Lanka through076 881 6666.
A Maldivian man went missing in Sri Lanka in February of this year as well. Afham Naseer, 23, was found dead near the beach area of Wellawatte, Colombo. No details about his death has been disclosed so far.
