Ministry of Finance has issued a third announcement seeking a building to house the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA).
NSPA had initially launched a search for an office building in June of last year. However, the lease was cancelled and re-announced on February 4, following criticism surrounding the initial tender process.
In its latest announcement, the Finance Ministry stated that it is once again seeking to secure a building to accommodate the NSPA office for a five-year lease period.
The eligible bidder will be selected through national competitive bidding, with a bid security of MVR 252,000 required.
The deadline for bid submissions is set for 1:00 pm on March 10, with the bids to be opened on March 11.
Previously, NSPA had leased three floors in a building owned by former Minister Ahmed Thasmeen Ali's family. However, these floors were also part of the premises rented by MMTV’s Maldives Media House.
The decision faced public scrutiny when the NSPA tender board chose to lease the floors despite the fact that Maldives Media House was the only party to submit an application in response to the tender announcement.
The lease agreement was initially set to run from August for five years, with a total rent of MVR 34.8 million.
However, the agreement was later cancelled due to public scrutiny.
Currently, NSPA operates from Mookai Suites, but the agency had previously stated that the building was in poor condition and required repairs.
