According to Ministry of Tourism's audit report, fuel worth MVR 1.1 million was brought for Kadedhoo airport, without issue of any public notices or agreements.
As per the annual audit report by Auditor General Hassan Ziyath, any projects transferring goods and services exceeding a value of MVR 35,000 should be publicly declared before being handed it over to a particular company.
Although Public Finance Regulation states that an agreement must be signed, fuels were purchased on several occasions without any such documents.
The audit report also states that permission was not granted for the fuel purchase from any person of authority.
In addition, the audit report highlighted that an amount of MVR 16 million was spent on Kadedhoo airport without any prior budget.
Owing to the above, the auditor general affirmed that a prior budget check should be done before the purchasing of any goods or services and that a person of authority must approve the purchase of any goods and services henceforth.
