Individuals to be granted free Hajj trips to be selected randomly through a draw

A press release by the Islamic Ministry following the publicization of the policy to send underprivileged Maldivians to Hajj revealed that 50 individuals recorded in the register for poor and needy will be sent to Hajj this year.

Under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s vow to send 1000 underprivileged Maldivians to Hajj in the next five years, the rule has been determined to select these individuals through a lottery between people registered as poor and needy.

Islamic Ministry has disclosed the policies dictating the procedures, guidelines and standards for sending underprivileged people to Hajj under the State’s expense on the gazette today.
