The feature film 'Zoya,' a part of the Gender Ministry's 'Domestic Relations' initiative emphasizing the importance of family connections, has premiered at Olympus.

First Lady Fazna Ahmed, Gender Minister Aishath Mohamed Didi, and Heritage Minister Yumna Maumoon unveiled the film during an event held at Olympus. Numerous senior officials from the ministry were present.

Abdulla Ashraf, Social Service Coordinator at the Gender Ministry, informed Mihaaru that 'Zoya' is one of the initiatives under the 'Domestic Relations' campaign.

Choosing a film as a medium was a strategic decision, aiming to engage a wide audience and effectively communicate essential messages about domestic violence and family dynamics.

Ashraf stated, "When we can convey the message through a film, it reaches a lot of people."

The film aims to emphasize the significance of family ties and highlight why it's crucial for victims of domestic abuse to receive support from within their families.

Titled 'Zoya,' the film boasts a runtime of one hour and thirty minutes. The screenplay, penned by renowned screenwriter Mahudhy Ahmed, known for works like 'Vaashey Mashaa Ekee' and 'Vishka,' delves into the story.

Directed by Ashhar Waheed, the film features pivotal performances by actress Fathimath Shara, along with Adnan and Mohamed Saeed.

The Gender Ministry plans to make the film accessible on television and various streaming platforms in the near future.
