The Housing Ministry has awarded the contract for the construction of 200 housing units in Seenu atoll Hithadhoo.
The contract for the construction of two 11 storey buildings was signed by the Director General of the Housing Department Ahmed Vishan Naseem, and awarded to PT Citramas Heavy Industries in joint partnership with Beaver Builders Pvt Limited. Managing Director Musthaq Ibrahim signed the contract on behalf of the contractor.
The housing project was awarded at a cost of MVR 218,852,500, and is to be completed within 540 days. According to the ministry, each housing unit will have a floor area of 1,000 square feet. This includes:
- 3 bedrooms, with attached toilets in each room
- Sitting room
- Kitchen and dining room
- Laundry and store room
The ground floor of the housing units will be used for commercial purposes, a maintenance office and parking space.
Recently, 500 land plots were allocated in Hithadhoo for housing purposes.
