Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development, Dr Ali Haidar Ahmed has issued documents confirming the receival of land plots for the recipients allocated land through the "Binveriya" scheme launched by the former administration.

On a post published on social platform, X, the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development stated that the recipients of the land plots will be able to view the documents issued under the signage of Minister Haidar through the online portal, Hiyaavehi, which provides them with confirmation of receiving land plots.

The State has once more confirmed receival of land plots after over 1,300 lands initially allocated from Giraavaru Falhu has been determined to be relocated to Gulhi Falhu instead.

The Ministry had previously explained that the space required for important essential services were not considered amid the initial allocation of land plots from Giraavaru Falhu, asserting that some lands issued from this reclaimed lagoon were transferred to Gulhi Falhu once the restructured land use plan which accommodates these unincorporated essential services observed that it is no longer possible for land to be allocated to the same number they were initially issued.

The window to apply for land relocation to Gulhi Falhu has been extended through the Hiyaavehi portal until the 14th of this month. The Ministry further revealed that in the case the applications for relocation received exceeds the designated amount, the relocated land plots will be determined by holding a draw for which the Ministry will pre-announce a date.

Under the scheme commenced by the former government, a total of 9,001 land plots were issued from Phase 2 of Hulhumale, Phase 3 of Hulhumale, Gulhi Falhu, as well as Giraavaru Falhu during the first round of allocation. Recipients were presented with documents confirming land receival with some also receiving registration of their lands by the end of the former government's tenure.
