Finance Ministry today announced they are seeking parties to install ice plants in five more islands; Dhaalu atoll Dhidhdhoo, Alif Alif atoll Rasdhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Rathafandhoo, Haa Alif atoll Ihavandhoo and Shaviyani atoll Komandoo.
Ministry of Finance today published an announcement seeking parties to install ice plants in five additional locations under the Saudi Fund for Development's aid.
These locations are Haa Dhaalu atoll Dhidhdhoo located in upper north Maldives, Alif Alif atoll Rasdhoo in north central Maldives, Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Rathafandhoo in south central Maldives, Haa Alif atoll Ihavandhoo in upper north Maldives and Shaviyani atoll Komandoo also in upper north Maldives, detailed the announcement. Each location will reportedly then have ice plants of 50 tonnes capacity.
Ice plants in these five islands will be operated through financial aid extended by the Saudi Fund for Development.
Eligible parties suitable for the work will be chosen according to an international bidding policy.
Moreover, a non-refundable registration fee of USD 100 is collected from each applicant seeking entry into the auction. This payment can be settled anytime between tomorrow and October 15, read the announcement, further mandating an additional deposit of MVR 250,000 as bid security.
Bid submissions are scheduled to commence on September 20.
Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources said in April that efforts are underway to develop ice plants in eleven local islands, revealing that the work will also be funded by the Saudi Fund for Development.
Meanwhile, 25 ice plants currently operate in several regions across the Maldives.
