Saeed went missing while diving, and despite extensive sea and air searches conducted by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), only his fishing gear was found at a depth of 59 meters.

Mohamed Saeed, a diver who went missing at the Tiger Shark dive point in Fuvahmulah in May 2022, was posthumously honored for his contributions to the tourism sector at the Fuvahmulah Tourism Awards 2024.
His daughter accepted the award on his behalf during a ceremony held at the Fuvahmulah City Council last night.
