Local media outlet 'Mihaaru News' reports that fabricated headlines with the inclusion of the company's logo, are being shared across social media platforms.
These false news articles are observed to have been spread to serve deceitful political agendas, under motivations to smear campaigns of various parties.
However, Mihaaru affirms that any news spread falsely using the 'Mihaaru' logo would amount to misleading the public and is hence an offence that is punishable by law.
In a statement released by the news agency, persons such as presidential candidates or any other groups of people that may be spreading false news using the 'Mihaaru' logo, were, in fact, betraying the ethics regarded by journalists, by engaging in an act of mass deception against readers seeking factual information.
Mihaaru also confirms that any accurate, timely news reported and verified by 'Mihaaru' will be available immediately after publication via their official website, and by using the Mihaaru App. In addition, the agency also cautions readers to cross-check headlines and news found elsewhere, particularly ones that appear to be incredulous, with the website and application for accuracy.
Closing their statement, the local news firmly stated their commitment to halting any further distribution of false news under their name.
