President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has thanked the Government of Saudi Arabia for the arrangements made for the Hajj pilgrims from Maldives this year.
In a letter he sent to the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the President thanked Saudi Arabia for the excellent arrangements made this year.
He also extended Eid Al-Adha greetings to the Crown Prince, the government and the people of Saudi Arabia.
"The President prayed that the Muslim Ummah upholds the principles of compassion, generosity, and unity that characterize the significant period of Hajj, and that Almighty Allah bless the Ummah with mutual understanding, harmony, and peace," a statement by the President's Office reads.
The President wished the Crown Prince and the people of Saudi Arabia continued happiness and wellbeing.
This year, 1150 pilgrims went on Hajj from the Maldives. One pilgrim, an 80 year old woman, passed away while in Mecca. All the other pilgrims are in good health, according to the Islamic Ministry.
