Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has banned Allegra suspension, a medication administered to children.

In an announcement today, MFDA said that the manufacturer had alerted that there are quality issues in three batches of the medication. Therefore, these three batches have been banned from being sold or used in the country.

Allegra is manufactured by Sanofi India Ltd, who announced that the batches in which quality issues have been found are AL/223019, AL/223060 and AL/223029.

MFDA instructed pharmacies, godowns and health service providers to inform them if they have any medications from these batches in stock.
