Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has issued a final notice to cafes, prohibiting placement of chairs and tables on the pavements of Hulhumale' streets.

HDC initially ordered the removal of these items from pavement areas in empty hedge zones on July 23. However, as the announcement has not garnered enough responses, the deadline for removal has been extended to August 10.

If the chairs and tables are not removed by this new deadline, HDC will proceed with their removal and will not be held responsible for any damage to the property.

HDC previously stated that businesses operating by placing tables and chairs on pavements and in empty hedge areas have led to various issues.

One significant concern is customers smoking near these tables and chairs, particularly in areas close to schools, making it difficult for pedestrians.
