HDC said that the temporary huts are being relocated to further develop the area.
Although private parties have built huts in the beach area of Hulhumale' 2 for various commercial purposes, HDC noted that the area is still under development and lacks necessary facilities, which poses inconveniences.
HDC is working to further develop the area and establish necessary facilities. Once the area is developed, it will be reopened to businesses under specified regulations, they said.
According to HDC, the corporation has been committed to making the most of the available resources in Hulhumale' to provide the facilities to the residents. They also noted the cooperation of Hulhumale' residents in these efforts.
Some residents of the Hiyaa flats had earlier sold short eats by building huts near their residential towers. However, after the huts were removed to facilitate further development in the area, these residents relocated their huts to the beachside to continue their businesses.
