Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) launched its online information system portal on Thursday.

The portal named 'Dhirithi' was inaugurated by Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen.

According to the health ministry, the use of an online portal will speed up and ease the provision of MFDA's services to the public, including registration and permits for imported food products and drugs, and issuing of border health clearance.

The government also plans to connect Dhirithi to the national single window network, which will ease MFDA's transactions with other agencies, including exchange of documents. The ministry further highlighted that the portal will be of great help to entrepreneurs and businesspeople, with the platform minimising the need for numerous visits to government institutions.

MFDA's 'Dhirithi' was launched as part of the administration's pledge to digitalise healthcare services in Maldives.
