MET Office predicts torrential rain, thunderstorms with possible flooding in the north of Maldives.
They have issued an Orange Alert for the area from 20:30 hrs to 22:30 hrs tonight.
As of now, there is also a White Alert across the Maldives. MET Office forecasts heavy rain and strong winds in Male' and other islands tonight.
MET Office has earlier said that the weather will start clearing up from Thursday onwards after the stormy days experienced as the southwest (Hulhan'gu) monsoon intensified.
Last week saw stormy weather across Maldives, causing severe flooding.
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said yesterday that 77 residences in 13 islands had sustained various levels of damage in last week's stormy weather.
They estimate that buildings and goods in Male' sustained damage worth MVR 819,549. In Male', 41 houses were damaged in the rain and ensuing floods.
Some of the islands impacted worst include Haa Alif atoll Baarah, Haa Alif atoll Dhihdhoo, Haa Dhaalu atoll Kulhudhuhfushi, Lhaviyani atoll Naifaru, Lhaviyani atoll Kurendhoo, Gaafu Alif atoll Dhevvadhoo, Seenu atoll Maradhoo, Seenu atoll Feydhoo and Seenu atoll Hithadhoo.
