Maldives Meteorological Center (MET) claims the island nation felt the aftershock of the earthquake registered at Sumatra, Indonesia on Monday, August 29 morning around 08:29 am.

While parts of Maldives capital felt tremors from the aftermath of the earthquake, MET claims no sign of threat of a possible tsunami. The tremors were noticeably felt around various parts of central to eastern parts of Male' City.

Following the tremors, employees at Health Ministry, operating in Roashanee Building, Henveiru district, were evacuated.

Several of the ministry's employees claim they felt the shakes from the aftermath.

Though MET assures no threat of a tsunami or further quakes across the Maldivian geographic region, the authority confirms receiving two distinct calls reporting them about tremors.

An employee from Ministry of Health had further claimed that they were evacuated after the building shook noticeably. While some reported experiencing the aftermath of the impact, others reported otherwise.

Meanwhile, several other separate reports claim of their respective accounts on Monday morning.
