Ooredoo Maldives and Freediving Instructors International (FII) have collaborated to organize a free diving safety session.

The session, titled "Safe Beneath the Surface: Freediving Safety Session with a World Champion", will be held at Ooredoo's head office in Hulhumale' on Wednesday, July 3.

Ooredoo stated that the purpose of the session is to enhance safety measures while diving and help prevent accidents. The event aims to promote best practices in diving safety, Ooredoo added.

The safety session will be delivered by two renowned FII speakers, Martin Stepanek and Errol Putigna.

Martin has gone to depths of over 400 feet on a single breath of air. He claimed his first Freediving world record in 2001, and has since gone on to become one of the world's top Freedivers in history, setting 13 world records throughout his career.

Martin is passionate about the physiology behind freediving, and has worked closely with leading researchers from Harvard University and the Karolynska Institute of Sweden to uncover some of the physiological mysteries behind the sport. His participation in this ongoing research has helped scientists better understand the impact that depth and pressure have on Freedivers.

Errol Putigna is an internationally recognized Freediving Instructor originally from Toronto, Canada. He works closely with FII and Freediver and creator/founder of FII, Martin Stepanek.

He helped develop Freedive curricula along side Martin Stepanek, such as FII's Junior Freediver program and is one of the most sought after freediving instructors in the world, having taught professional athletes and Forbes 400 business entrepreneurs among others.

He teaches both recreational level and professional level certification courses all over the United States, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Spain and Qatar.

Registration for "Safe Beneath the Surface: Freediving Safety Session with a World Champion" session is now open.
